What we process
The images you upload are processed to detect the chessboard and compute a move. Images are held in memory while the request runs. If recognition fails, the image may be saved on the server to help improve the recognizer, and it is deleted automatically after 14 days.
Third-party processors
For difficult boards (puzzles, endgames, 3D boards) and for the AI Coach, the image or the position (FEN) may be sent to Google (Gemini) or OpenAI. Do not upload images that contain personal information.
Analytics and error monitoring
We use a self-hosted Umami instance for anonymous usage statistics (page views and button clicks) and Sentry for error reports. No session recordings are made. Sentry reports do not include your uploaded images unless this is explicitly enabled for debugging.
Cookies and accounts
There are no user accounts and no advertising cookies.
